"The Litter Box"

"We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can
spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man
has ever made." -M. Facklam

Since becoming active in the dog world in 1987 with Rottweilers and 1994 with Pugs, I have suffered through the heartbreak of hip dysplasia, juvenile cataracts and heart disease in dogs that I have loved. Consequently, I only breed dogs that have been through a battery of genetic health tests: hips, elbows, eyes, hearts, thyroid, bleeding disorders (Von Willibrand's Disease), hemivertebrae, patellar luxation, etc. (the testing varies between breeds) and I do not breed dogs who have ruptured their anterior cruiciate ligament(s) for any reason.

Most of these tests have been done by board certified veterinary specialists (hips, elbows, eyes, hearts, sebaceous adenitis) NOT by general practitioner veterinarians like myself. I hope to spareanyone getting one of my puppies from the heartbreak that I suffered my first few years in dogs.

Current Rottweiler Litters:

Unfortunately, due to a severe, horse-related head injury, I am currently suffering from medical problems that limit my abilities at this time. Therefore we do not have any Rottweiler litters planned for the immediate future. We do hope to resume our Rottweiler breeding program in the future, but the timing will vary depending upon my health status and the availability of competent people to assist me with the dogs. I encourage you to look around the website at our previous dogs and litters and if you are not in a hurry for a puppy then please feel free to email me for further information, but we will not be accepting any advance puppy deposits at this time. I apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

Our most current Rottweiler litter may be found at the link below.

All of our puppies, Rottweilers and Pugs, are raised inside our home and are kept with their dams around the clock until the weaningprocess begins. Unfortunately, many breeders separate mothers from their pups at birth, allowing the dams in to feed and clean the pups at regular intervals, but removing them afterwards to avoid having to constantly monitor the litter. Yes, this method of "convenience rearing" does allow the breeder some free time, but it is absolutely NOT in the best interest of the dam or the pups! Proper mental, emotional, behavioural and social development of the puppies requires the presence of their dam as nature intended. For more information, please read 'Environment, Genes & Mental Hygiene' by Pernille Monberg, found in our Articles section.

Raised in our family room, pups are exposed to many different sights, sounds and activities before they leave our home. As well asmeeting many different adult humans, they are also very well socialised with other dogs, cats and children of different ages. Living in a rural setting, the pups have also been exposed to horses, cows and sometimes other livestock as well! The Pug pups tend to be a bitmore outgoing then many - like our Rottweilers and the Rottweiler pups tend to be more like 'cuddle bunnies' then most - like our Pugs... This bodes well for their future 'careers', as lately (since my own head injury) we have been enjoying performing local Pet Therapy visitation on a regular basis. Please read more about what I feel is my dogs' most important role, in 'Pet Therapy', written by myself, found in our Articles section. And enjoy the photos - they will touch your heart...

If you are interested in adding a Tierarztin puppy to your family, then please send us an email using the link provided at the left of this page. We will reply with a detailed information package, including a prospective adoption questionnaire for you to fill out and return to us. Afterwards, we can then go ahead and make further arrangements to speak over the phone and/or meet in person. Thank you.
